Hamstrings often receive less attention than quadriceps in both research and training contexts, despite their importance for injury prevention and functional strength.
Compared to the quadriceps, the hamstrings typically receive significantly less attention in both laboratory research and practical gym programming. This disparity exists because the quadriceps are easier to study using ultrasound imaging due to their proximity to the skin, whereas the individual heads of the hamstrings are deeper and harder to image. Additionally, most lifters prioritize movements like squats, leg presses, and lunges that heavily load the quadriceps, often leaving hamstring development as an afterthought unless deliberate programming is applied.
