Copper Peptides on TikTok: Topical Skin Repair vs. Injectable Risks

The clip strongly advises against injectable copper peptides, citing a lack of human evidence and regulatory oversight.
What the research neighborhood actually covers
Topical copper peptides have a modest but real evidence base. Studies on GHK-Cu, the most studied copper peptide, suggest it can support collagen production, wound healing, and antioxidant activity in skin. A 2015 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences highlighted GHK-Cu's role in tissue remodeling and its potential in cosmetic formulations. However, most clinical data come from small studies or are extrapolated from in vitro experiments. For example, a 2002 study on a copper peptide cream showed improved skin laxity and fine lines, but the formulation and sample size limit broad conclusions.
Regarding injectable copper peptides, the claim of insufficient human evidence is accurate. There are no well-controlled human trials for injectable GHK-Cu for cosmetic or therapeutic use. The peptide is not FDA-approved for injection, and its safety profile in systemic use is largely unknown. In vitro studies show copper peptides can stimulate fibroblasts, but that does not translate directly to safe or effective injection in humans.
